If you do most of your fishing in North America, chances are you’ve never really targeted the carp. I know that was true for me, I actually looked at them as more of a nuissance. But with a few carp fishing tips, you can change that perception, and add a whole new dimension to your angling experience.
The Story
So, I was a little bored one day, and decided to go mess around with some sunfish at a local lake. It gave me a chance to have a super relazed trip, and fish with a new Orvis 1 weight fly rod I had just purchased.
A few casts into the day, I was on the bite. I pulled in a few bluegill, as well as some beautiful pumpkin seed fish, what can I say, all was right with the world, and I was having a killer time.
When All Of A Sudden…
Don’t you love when a story starts out that way?! Anyway, my fly disappeared and after a gentle hook set (I was fishing for panfish after all) it took off like a shot! I figured a bass had gotten into the mix, and I didn’t really count on landing the thing. It took a turn and started heading right for my spot on the shore.
When I got a good look, I realized that I had hooked into a decent sized carp! I tried to get him on the shore, but my little 1 weight just didn’t have enough juice to do the job, and eventually, he broke off.
A New Approach
Well, when I got home, I was a little intrigued. That carp put up one heck of a fight, and I figured I needed some carp fishing tips so that I would have another tool in the toolbox. I quickly learned that carp fishing was a well respected art in the UK, and started reading everything I could. I figured that if I could target carp, I would have another species to go after if the bass or panfish weren’t biting in this particular lake.
Here’s What I found
I eventually stumbled across an eBook by some guys from the UK that was all about carp fishing. These were the carp fishing tips I was looking for. I opened myself up to a whole new dimension of fishing by reading this fantastic guide.
