5 Places You Have To Fish Before You Die

Heaven Probably Looks Like This

One day, it’s gonna happen to all of us—no one lives forever. I for one plan to make the most of the time we are given on this planet, and I think you should do the same.

The great outdoors are just that, great! I think all of us who are of able mind and body have somewhat of a responsibility to get out there and live life to it’s fullest. For us here at MVF, that means getting out and seeing some incredible parts of the world.

All right, enough philosophy, let’s take a look at five places that are on the fishing bucket list.

5. The Amazon

The Amazon is in a class of it’s own when it comes to wildlife. From the Amazonian Manatee to the capybara, to giant anaconda snakes—this place has animals to be respected, admired, and feared all in one place. And that isn’t even to mention the fishing.

Whether you are looking for giant peacock bass, or the famed piranha, or maybe even the giant pirarucu, an angler will certainly have his or her hands full in this type of environment.

Just be sure to watch out for the electric eels while you’re out there!

4. Cuba

Wait, Cuba? Really? Yes, really. If you are an angler here in the States, you’ve probably never thought about fishing in Cuba because it

just doesn’t seem possible. The loop holes you would have to jump through are just crazy, and the potential of getting caught and in trouble are even worse.

Then again, it might be worth it for some of the reports coming out of Cuba. There are a large number of anglers who believe the next World Record Largemouth Bass will come from Cuba. There have been reports of several fish well over 20 lbs.—I’ve even read a forum post claiming to be a 25 pounder.

Now, this is completely unverifiable, but I would be the first to volunteer for a fishing expedition to find out. Everything I just mentioned doesn’t even take into account the incredible Tarpon, Permit, and Bonefish available there. Sounds like a fly fisherman’s dream to me.

3. Patagonia

Putting Patagonia on a list like this is almost like cheating. The word describes a region that spans across two different countries in South America, Chile and Argentina.

Accuse me of cheating if you want, but you can’t accuse me of bad taste! Patagonia is a wildly sought after fishing destination with tons of fantastic lodges and guides in both countries.

The fishing there can only be described as epic, and extremely diverse—just like the landscape. In fact, the picture at the beginning of this article is Patagonia, a little slice of heaven!

2. Canada

Again, this might be cheating. Everyone knows that Canada is an outdoorsman’s paradise. From hunting, to fishing, to climbing, camping, and hiking, you can’t find a better destination.

The best part about Canada is that fishing and the outdoors seem to be ingrained in the culture. You will have no problem finding a wonderful five star lodge and a professional guide that will put you on fish. Plus, the people are just so gosh darn nice!

Whether you want to fish for bass, pike, musky, trout, or salmon, Canada is waiting for you!

1. Alaska

It’s no wonder that Alaska shows up on the top of so many lists like this one. It stands as the last of the States to be conquered. In so

many ways, it is still wild and dangerous.

It’s these elements of danger and excitement, along with fishing that you will not find anywhere else in the world, that puts Alaska on top of our list.

For the fly fisherman, the prospect of pulling a giant King Salmon, or one of the brightest, prettiest Rainbow Trout you’ve ever seen is hard to top. Alaska is, and for the foreseeable future will remain, the destination for sport fisherman of all kinds.

See ya on the water…
