ICAST 2011: Airrus

Airrus is known for manufacturing quality rods and this year they are showing some new offerings in their product line. The first is the Airrus Co-Matrix 2.0. This rod is essentially a reworking of the original Co-Matrix 457 that a lot of folks have fished since it’s introduction in 2002.

The 2.0 retains its filament wound butt section with IM-7 graphite as the base for the blank. This new stick has reshaped grips, no fore-grip, a split rear grip and is employing the new micro-guides. It will retail for about $170.00 and will provide an action that people are familiar with while giving them the modern upgrades they are looking for.

The new Airrus Micropulse series of rods feature a hypalon split rear grip, new reel seat and aluminum highlights including the winding check. The butt section of this rod is reinforced with a 30/33 matte and comes with the Airrus micro guide system that elevates the first three guides to provide easier and straighter line flow to the tip. The Micropulse series will retail for about $121.00 and should be available near the end of the year.

The Nanofusion series is the top-of-the-line Airrus offering and the most technologically advanced. They use a Buckypaper from the first guide to the butt of the blank as well as approximately the last 17 inches of the tip for more strength. The Airrus micro-guide system is standard on this stick as well and it has attractive yet understated aluminum highlights. This series of rods will retail for about $250.00 and should be available late this year.
