ICAST 2011: G Loomis

Last year G. Loomis introduced their new NRX rods which were an immediate hit. This year, the folks have re-designed their GL2 line of moderately priced rods. This is the entry level bass rod for Loomis and while, in the past, they were rated to handle a number of techniques, this year this series is very technique specific.

They feature a new cork split grip design that uses both premium cork and composite material to give the handle a unique, recognizable look. The grip is sculpted to better fit the anglers hand and the butt grip has been flattened on the sides to make it more comfortable to use your forearm for leverage. Add to that a screened image between the handle and butt section of the rod that has a picture of the application the rod was designed for and what you’re left with is an attractive, functional tool.

There will be a total of 41 different models in the GL2 series with prices ranging from $185.00 to $245.00. Lengths will range from 6’ to 7’11” with these rods slated for release in the next couple of months.
