Brent Chapman moves up 10 spots to take first
MANY, La.– It was a crazy day on the water for the Bassmaster Elite pros—well, at least for Brent Chapman it was. He weighed in a full sack of five lunkers for a total of 25 pounds, 8 ounces.
Added to his Day 1 total of 18 pounds, 1 ounce, and it was good enough to take him from 11th place, all the way to the top of the board.
There are two very interesting things to note about Chapman’s strategy. First, he fished the same spot both days, obviously having much more success in Day 2. Second, he had his limit early—really early. The livewell held the same five fish at 8 am that would later be weighed in.
For his spot, yesterday’s leader Cliff Pace, fell back bit to third place, but is still well within striking distance. With two full days of fishing still ahead of the pros, this is anyone’s tournament.
It will be fun to see what adjustments number two and three anglers, Matt Herren and and Cliff Pace respectively, will make going into Saturday. Tomorrow is pivotal—as the field will be reduced to only 12 anglers after the weigh in.
Here is the top three as it stands:
- Brent Chapman
- Matt Herren
- Cliff Pace
Stay tuned for a big day of action on the water tomorrow!
