ICAST 2012 Live Post: Jackall Lures

Jackall lures are known for excellent craft and quality design.

This is a company that pays attention to details, and produces a product commensurate with that commitment. This year at ICAST 2012 they have a handful of new designs that really stand out among a giant crowd.

Let’s look at a few designs that will make their way into your tackle box soon.

The Boil Trigger

Sometimes, designs make so much sense that you wonder why no one really thought of it sooner.

That’s the case with the boil trigger.

It is a topwater plug, with incredible detailing in the finish. That alone would make it a solid bait, but Jackall added something to take it one step further.

They added a jointed section.

Seems kind of simple, doesn’t it? This simple little distinction makes a big difference in the way the bait acts on the water. Not only do you have classic, walk-the-dog action, but now you have a tail that is going to move and kick, and create a huge disturbance.

I’m very excited to get this bait on the water very soon.

Another design Jackall brought to the show is the ASKA crank.

These are really beautiful, shallow runners with very clever square bills. The bill itself is not just clever and eye-catching, but also a very effective use of design and aerodynamics.

In the water is where it shines, which is really what matters.

The Un-Named Bait

One of the most intriguing things Jackall has at ICAST, is a topwater bait that they haven’t even named yet.

It has a design detail just below the bill that causes the bait to stand almost vertical when at rest. When I first saw it sitting in the tank, I thought it was broken.

After about five minutes of speaking with the guys at the booth, I learned that they designed it that way to create more disturbance, stand out, and catch the attention of the fish. This will be very fun to get on the water soon.
