River2Sea has a lot to be proud of, as usual, but this year at ICAST, there is something that they have done that stands out.
I mentioned earlier that umbrella rigs (aka Alabama rigs) are all over the floor this year. Ever since Paul Elias won a FLW event with one, they seem to be all the rage.
Everything that is being brought to the table seems to be just variations or slight tweeks on the classic design—except for River2Sea. They have some changes that have really made a difference to the concept of the lure.
River2Sea Umbrella Rig
Umbrella rigs get damaged when you store them.
They have to be compressed to be stored in a tackle box, which weakens the arms and can lead to breakage. River2Sea has solved this problem by adding the ability to unscrew the main fastening, place the arms flat, and store it without damaging it.
They also have added quick release to the blades on the ends of the arms, which will make changing from straight swimbaits to jig type baits much easier.
I asked the guys at River2Sea why they decided to make an umbrella rig, and their answer was simple…
“Because we knew we could make it better!”
I agree boys.
