I know that we’ve discussed the new Rage Tail baits from Strike King, but there are others that were presented at ICAST.
Let’s start with the Squadron Head. A jig-head that is designed for multiple purposes including A-rigs, as a standalone head or for rigging with hollow body swimbaits internally. They will be available very soon and come in a variety of sizes.
Another intriguing product is named the Slither Rig. This is a skirt combined with a tungsten punch style weight that the angler slides up their main line prior to tying your hook and rigging your bait. The purpose is to get your bait through all kinds of slop without fouling it before the fish can get to it. The weights start at 1/2 ounce and go up from there.
For all of us who enjoy fishing jerkbaits in cold water, Strike King is introducing the new KVD Slash Jerkbait. There will be two sizes offered but won’t be available until sometime this fall. It is billed as combining the traditional action of hard plastic jerkbaits with some erratic side to side movement. It’s taken two years in development to get the action just right. This is one of the baits that we are anxious to get out hands on and get them on the water.
As many of you know, we throw a lot of soft plastic swimbaits around here and this year Strike King is introducing the KVD Swim’n Caffeine Shad. It will come in two sizes, a 4 and a 5 in version, is constructed of the same plastic as the other perfect plastics and will feature many of the proven colors from Strike King.
A couple new hard baits from Strike King are the Silent 5XD and Red Eye Shads. Both of these baits are proven winners but will now be configured to allow the angler the option of a rattle-less bait. These should excel in situations when the fish get wise to the standard version and quit biting.
And finally, there is the new Strike King Tour Grade Titanium Umbrella Rig. These will come in two sizes so that the angler can switch both sizes of their baits and proximity to one another on the rig. These should be available through retailers and e-tailers very soon.
