Christie Slides By The Pack With 4 Ounces To Spare

141805062915_gt412Russelville, Arkansas— It doesn’t matter if you win by 10 pounds, or 10 ounces, a win is a win.

Jason Christie put together a come from behind charge to win this weekend’s Bassmaster Elite event on Lake Dardanelle to win by the narrowest of margins. Four ounces of bass, and no doubt buckets of sweat, was all he needed to punch that ticket to the next year’s big dance.

The beginning of the final day saw Christie in fourth place, he himself believing a 20 pound bag would be needed to put the field behind him.

The estimate was quite close, as it would be his 19 pounds, 2 ounces that would put him ahead of Gerald Swindle for the win.

Christie’s strategy was to work currents by swimming a jig and getting reaction bites. The winning bait was a Booyah jig with a black and blue Yum Craw Chunk.

Working those currents would occasionally take him to a grass mat, where he would spend time keying in on some larger fish.

With G-Man coming in 2nd, Greg Hackney would take third to round out the top 3.

The next stop for the Elite Series pros is the BASSfest at Chickamauga lake from June 11th-15th.
