Macomb County, MI— Bradley Roy may not be a name most fans are familiar with, but if he keeps fishing like he did today, that is going to change.
The 26-year-old Kentucky native brought 23 pounds, 3 ounces to the scales at Lake St. Claire which was good enough for a narrow one-pound lead. And it didn’t come easy.
Roy would tell media that he “had a good practice,” but “fished several places and just didn’t get bit.” When it was clear the fish had moved on Roy decided to go in search. The search and destroy mentality served him well and got the job done.
Right behind Roy is Chad Morgenthaler from Missouri who was able to bring his limit to the scales with an almost completely opposite approach.
On the AOY front, Jacob Wheeler came into this tourney tied for second place but took over the lead by boating 21 pounds, 9 ounces.
We still have a lot of tournament left of course, so we will have to see if Idaho pro Brandon Palaniuk can turn that around and get his first place spot back.
