ICAST 2011: Buckeye

Buckeye introduced some new products this year with the first being the JWill Flipping Jig. This bait is designed for flipping heavy cover and all of the components mirror that theme. The JWill comes stock with a 6/0 Trokar hook, a unique head design that penetrates cover more easily, a dense weed guard color matched to the head and an equally dense skirt.

Next up is a jig that Jason Williamson has been fishing with this season named the JWill Swim Jig. This bait features a horizontal hook eye for a better hook up percentage, a light weed guard, quality skirts and a 5/0 heavy duty round bend Trokar worm hook. The heads are powder coated, available in several colors and are on shelves already.

Buckeye has decided to introduce a Mini-Mop jig. It will use the same living rubber skirt as its larger counterparts and has a head design that will stand the bait up a bit so that your trailer assumes that defensive posture in the water. The Mini-Mop is produced in a well rounded color palette which should appear on shelves within the next few months.

Finally, they have come up with a new football head that is actually two pieces appropriately named the 2-Part Football Jig.  It will function like any one piece head but during a fight, is designed to come apart. The outer piece will be free to come up the line while the inner portion that the hook eye is a part off, stays with the rest of the jig. This is supposed to help reduce the incidence of a bass shaking a football head due to the leverage it can get with the big weight in front.
