Down here in the South, we love frying things! There really is nothing better than frying up a fresh catch and having your buddies over to watch a game and have a beer.
Here’s the problem though—my wife hates when I fry fish in the kitchen. If I want to fry some fish that I’ve brought home, I have to open every window in the house, turn on the fans, and grab a bottle of Febreeze. On top of that, it’s usually a good idea to bring her some flowers and apologize in advance!
With the Bass Pro cast iron fryer, I don’t have to worry any more.
Fry Your Fish On The Patio
Now when I bring home a catch, all I have to do is clean the fish, walk outside to my patio, pop open a beer, and get to cooking.
It’s just as convenient as using a propane grill. In fact, you can even use your same propane tank and just switch hoses. On top of killer convenience, you have cast iron durability.
The unit is also perfect for all of you campers out there. Throw it in the truck and you can be frying your fish right next to the river or the lake.
Fish Fry Recipes
Having a great recipe for frying fish can make all the difference. Here is one I use for beer battered fried fish that is super simple.
First, you need:
- Fish Filets (Your choice on the number)
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 cups beer (I find Sam Adam’s to be the best, but your choice)
- 1/2 cup salad oil
- Frying oil
Coat your fish in the flour and set aside. Mix your ingredients in a bowl and mix until they are smooth.
Dip your fish in the batter, and let the excess drip off. Fry those bad boys at 375 in the frying oil until they are golden brown. Let them dry on some paper towels, and enjoy!
The Best Portable Fish Fryer
I really haven’t found a better portable fish fryer out there, that’s why I’m so excited about this one from Bass Pro.
They are inexpensive, and built like a champ!
See ya on the water…
