Dandridge, Tenn.– It was another good day for South Carolina native Myers on Douglas Lake. After leap-frogging Aaron Martins on day two of the Elite Series tournament by four pounds, he continued his run and extended his overall lead to just under 6 pounds.
Following a hit and run strategy, Myers fished over 50 different spots on Saturday, not stopping for anything—not even a storm.
Britt said he never has luck staying in one place, and his all over the map strategy is clearly paying off. Just like he did on Friday of the tournament, he is targeting larger individual bass, as opposed to big schools like most of the field of anglers has been doing.
Meanwhile, Aaron Martins’ struggles continue in 2012, as he has dropped from second to third place overall.
Jumping over Martins was Jeremy Starks, who, despite having his trolling motor go out on him at about noon, weighed in a 19 pound, 11 ounce bag. Interestingly, Starks is following a contrasting strategy to Myers—he’s making long casts to huge schools of fish.
It will be interesting to see which of these two strategies holds on the last day of the tournament.
