ICAST 2012: Daiwa

Daiwa is a name most of you know for their reels. This year they are expanding their line of reels with the new Aird. This series will come in both casting and spinning versions. They are value priced at below $100.

Daiwa has also made some improvements to their Crossfire and Laguna series spinning reels while maintaining the low price point for both products.

Another casting reel added to the stable is the Lexa which will come in a 100 and a 300 series. The 300 will be available in two gear ratios with two different handle configurations.

The Procyon line of rods has received a lot of attention due to their light weight, feel and strength. These are certainly worth a look for the angler who is in the market for a couple new sticks to go with existing reels.

The Steez casting reels have been around for a number of years now and have gained quite a following even with the relatively steep price. This year, Daiwa is introducing their new Steez EX Spinning Reels as a stable mate.

Like the casting version, the spinning reel has an ultra-lightweight body made from Zaion carbon composite, sports a 13 bearing system, silent oscillation, a titanium nitride spool lip and infinite Anti-Reverse among other features.

Daiwa has also seen fit to to add a 7.9:1 gear ratio Steez casting reel. This thing is FAST!

There are other improvements that have been made to some of Daiwa’s established products that you fans will appreciate.
