Spro is introducing a new down-sized deep diver named the Little John Baby DD. This bait has a smaller profile than the original DD and is designed to get down into the 10 – 12 foot range. The Baby DD weighs about 5/8 oz, uses the same soft tungsten weight transfer system, has the same slow float as its siblings and a very similar hunting action. It will come in the same patterns as its larger cousin and should be as effective as the original DD.
Spro is introducing some new patterns to their Little John MD’s named the Natural Craw Series. There will be a Bluegrass Craw, Rusty Gold and Fire Craw. With these colors, most anglers should find something that will work in their area. They are also introducing new colors for the McStick line of baits which are called the Phantom Series. These will include a Gray Ghost, Norman Flake and Table Rock Shad.
Another bait series that Spro is expanding on is the Bronze Eye hollow body frog family. This year they have expanded to include the Baby Pop Popper. This little guy is about 1/4 oz, uses a 1/0 light-wire frog hook, comes in 9 colors and has a very soft body for a better hook-up percentage. This bait is designed to be used on pressured fish or when the bass are wanting something smaller.
Spro has been working with Russ Lane to develop the Big Daddy Crankbaits which are now ready. This bait has a wide body that creates a wobble that has a rolling action along with the standard side to side wobble. The bait was designed in such a way as to allow Spro to package the Big Daddy stock with two Gamakatsu #2 trebles. These are big, mean hooks that are employed to keep fish buttoned on so that you can land them.
See ya’ on the water …
