While we typically default to hybrid line for our everyday use, we decided to give Sufix Invisiline 100% Fluorocarbon a try for some of our favorite finesse techniques and see if we found a noticeable difference
Fluorocarbon lines have in the past been notoriously expensive compared to their mono counterparts. While there is a case to be made in terms of justifying that expense, some of it was, in our opinion, just plain cock and bull.

Today’s review is about another new kid on the block from the folks at Livingston Lures.
The Pro Ripper is their lipless crankbait.
If you’re unfamiliar with Livingston Lures, they make a series of hard baits which use micro-electronics to emit a “croaking” sound as the lure is retrieved. Some models also add an LED light to the package. [Read more…]
The Kid and I were going back and forth over the price of lures the other day. Like everything else, the price of bass tackle has risen over the last couple of decades. I can remember when $5 was considered a high price for a plug!

We’ve been looking to add some new rods to our personal arsenal around here and just when we had narrowed down our choices, we get wind of a new offering from the folks at Kistler. They are introducing a new series that is very affordably priced between $149 – $179.
Before we get into the details of these new sticks, most of you will know the name Kistler from their now infamous Z-Bone series of custom built rods. Yes, these are a custom-built rod that carries with it a custom price.
While this may be out of the reach of a lot of folks, for those who are fortunate enough to own one of more of these sticks, they will tell you how much they enjoy fishing them, that the build quality is unsurpassed, and perhaps most importantly, the customer service is truly outstanding. We’ve talked about how effective square-billed, shallow running crankbaits can be this time of year. We have been testing one that debuted at this year’s ICAST— the Jackall Aska SR Crankbait.
The 60 has been available for a while now, but is joined by both a smaller 50 as well as a larger 70 series.
For our review today, we are going to look specifically at the Aska 50 SR. This little guy has proven to be an ideal bait for pressured fish. It isn’t too large to make them wary, and employs a different action than the majority of baits in this category. [Read more…]
If you enjoy your frog fishing like we do, then you have probably tried every frog out there except for possibly one—the Jackall Iobee Frog. We first got wind of this product a while ago, but didn’t actually start fishing it until this summer.
Jackall is known, rightly so, for their innovative premium hard baits as well as very effective soft plastics. Everything that we have fished from them has been top-notch in design, quality and performance. With this history, we just had to give the Iobee Frog a shot.
