Spro Little John DD Crankbait

The Spro Little John crankbait is not a new bait, but since I have been having some tremendous success with it lately, I thought it worth a review.

The Little John is different from the Fat John in the depth that it dives. This bait is designed to dive in the 15-20 foot range, while the Fat John is a shallow runner. Having the Little John in your tackle box alongside the Fat John makes for a dynamite pairing that will put fish in the boat all day. [Read more…]

Davis Bait X Swim Screw Lock Swimbait Hooks

Today we’re going to take another swim-bait hook out on the water and see how it performs. As usual, we have our favorite in this category but we do, in the interest of fair play, like to take a look at other competitive offerings. We picked up some Davis Bait X Swim Screw Lock Swimbait Hook.

These hooks are available in hook sizes from 4/0 to 8/0 and in weights from 1/16 to 3/8 which is a wide range of choices. Unfortunately, they don’t have anything smaller than a 4/0 which is a bit limiting for finesse style bait. But let’s see how they perform on the water. [Read more…]

Reaction Innovations Little Dipper Swimbait

The Little Dipper Package

Let’s look at another offering in the swimbait category. When the situation calls for something on the smallish side, what are you going to use? We decided to give the Reaction Innovations Little Dipper a go. We fished the Little Dipper as a swimbait with a weighted hook on Lake Lanier so let’s take a look at the action that you can expect from this pint-sized lure. [Read more…]

River2Sea V Joint Wake

V joint side shot

We have reviewed a few offerings from River2Sea and we have one more that really caught our interest, the V-Joint Wake. There are often times when you need a bait for fishing skinny water as bass are pushing shad into the shallows to feed on them. [Read more…]

S-Waver

Tonight let’s take a look at a hard bodied swimbait from River2Sea that we picked up recently – the S-Waver. We obtained the 168S in Rainbow trout. This bait is 6 ¾ inches in length and weighs in at 15/8 oz. The S-Waver comes stock with Daichi hooks that are sharp out of the package and ready to fish. [Read more…]

Big Bite Baits Kriet Tail Worm

Today we’re going to look at a new worm from Big Bite Baits. This is the first experience we have had with this company’s products and for our first review on their baits we picked up some Kriet Tail Worms. These worms are available in 6 and 10 inch versions with the 6 inch the one we decided to fish first. [Read more…]

The Revenge Buzzbait

Here we go again gang, let’s look at another summer time lure, the Revenge Buzzbait. Yes, summer time is buzzbait time. The trouble is that we are still waiting for summer around here.

Overnight temps as I write this are in the high 50’s. Considering it’s almost June, this is beyond cool, it is bordering on frigid. Anyway, let’s look at the Revenge and see how it stacks up against other lures in this genre. [Read more…]

Poor Boys Baits Erie Darter

Today let’s look at a new bait from Poor Boys named the Erie Darter. The first time I saw this soft plastic lure I was thinking in terms of how I could rig it. At 4 inches in length I was thinking about using it on a drop-shot rig or possibly a darter head or some other type of jig head. [Read more…]

Kevin VanDam Line And Lure Conditioner

Today let’s talk about one of those annoying maintenance items that is as far from sexy as you get when it comes to the items you carry in your tackle box – line conditioner. My personal preference for this item is KVD line conditioner. While it wasn’t the first, in my opinion, it is the best. [Read more…]

Attrax Mystic Frog

Today we’re going to look at another frog bait. I know that we have done a couple of these lately but that is because this is the time of year when this genre of lures is at it’s most effective. From now until late summer, there is a good chance that you will have some great days on the water throwing some kind of frog bait. [Read more…]
