Brandon Cobb Holds Off the Field for Wire-to-Wire Win

Anderson, Sc – This season on the Elite Series, we should get used to hearing some new names.

Actually, a lot of new names.

While calling Brandon Cobb a “rookie” is inaccurate because of his track record with FLW, this is by far his highest profile tournament fishing victory.

Cobb, fishing on his home lake of Lake Hartwell, grabbed the lead on day one, and never let go. When it was all said and done, he weighed in 72 pounds, 4 ounces and earned the blue trophy and $100,000 check that goes with it.

The home lake advantage can’t be understated in this case. Cobb actually stayed at his own home, and made the hour or so drive into the launch area every day.

“I literally never ran out of places where I felt like I was going to catch one.”

Brandon Cobb

Cobb made his bones targeting bedding bass with two different baits. And he ran through them. He said later that he never spent more than 10 minutes on one fish.

This big win on the home lake is a pretty solid way to start your first season on the Elite Series. I have a feeling Brandon Cobb is a name we will hear much more about in the future.
