One component of fishing that can make a huge difference in everything from angler fatigue to hook up ratio, having the ability to present a bait properly, casting distance and accuracy as well as myriad other concerns is a good, balanced rod. Yes, the stick you’re using can, depending on which one you’re throwing, either… [Continue Reading]

Daiwa Kage Rod Review

Daiwa introduced their Tatula series of reels several years ago beginning with the original Tatula 100 and 100 Type R. We’ve had every major version update since then including the CT Type R and the SV. We obtained the new Tatula 100 some time last year and have been fishing with it ever since.

There are times when big topwater walking baits are key to getting bites while other situations may call for something a little less boisterous. One bait that you can use that still has a decent length to it but presents itself with more subtlety is the Berkley Drift Walker. This bait comes in ten colors… [Continue Reading]

Lessons Kids Learn While Fishing

It occurred to me the other day while inviting a friend to go fishing with me that every time I talk about fishing, I also end up talking about one or more of my children. That is because I usually have one or more of my children with me when I go. [Read more…]

Heddon One Knocker Spook Review

Today’s product review is all about top water bassin’. For the last couple of season’s nothing has come close in my view to matching the fish catching ability of the Reaction Innovations Barely Legal Vixen. I have caught countless fish on this lure and really didn’t think that anything could match it fish for fish.

However, on my last trip a new lure not only matched, but exceeded it both in terms of quantity and quality of fish. That lure is the new Heddon Spook One Knocker. [Read more…]

Early Fall On The Toccoa River

Early fall in Georgia can be a funny thing. One day you wake up with dew all over your car and a chill in the air, the next it’s 95 degrees again. Just the same, I figured after my Chattahoochee River trip, it was time to give the Toccoa river a visit. [Read more…]

Strike King Shadalicious

Today’s product review is on one of my favorite night time baits, the Strike King Shadilicious. I have reviewed the Sebile Magic Swimmer Soft Pro and do use it, however the Shadilicious while not a brand new bait as I have been using it for now three seasons, is still the swim-bait that I have the most confidence in.  [Read more…]

As most bass fisherman know, every year at about this time, there is a show named ICAST where manufacturers of bass fishing equipment all get together to show off their new wares for the upcoming season. ICAST 2010 ended a few weeks ago and after having gone through a lot of information on a plethora of new gear I am going to highlight what, in my opinion, are the most promising new baits and tackle. Sebile Magic Swimmer Soft Pro Review

Today, we are going to take a look at the Sebile Magic Swimmer Soft Pro. I like to use soft plastic swimbaits around this time of year and have had good success with them. With that in mind and having seen the video of these particular baits, I couldn’t wait to get them. I chose the four inch version and got three different patterns. The bluegill, holo greenie and blue back herring, which to me very much resembles some of our local sunfish. [Read more…]

Full Moon Bass Fishing

I went fishing the other night on the day after the full moon. Now this is something that typically I would do as often as getting a root canal without anesthesia. However, with no other options in sight and since I was starting to go through the DT’s, I decided to go ahead and go knowing that that my chances of catching much of anything would probably be limited at best. So I made my lure choices which were pretty easy, tied them on, loaded the truck, got my coffee and off to the lake I went. [Read more…]
