Winning Baits From The Bassmaster Elite Series on Lake Hartwell

It’s always fun to look at the baits that were used to win a given tournament.

It’s important to contextualize them though so you can take the proper lesson and application and apply it to your own fishing.

Brandon Cobb owned the field on his home waters of Lake Hartwell from wire-to-wire. Here are the baits he used to do that.

Zoom Fluke Stick

The Zoom Fluke Stick, and the baby brother Fluke Stick Jr., are a classic soft-plastic bait. Cobb deployed the Green Pumpkin color throughout the tournament.

His approach was to through the Fluke Stick at anything looking like a bedding area as he approached.

If the fish didn’t bite on his way there, he dropped the Power Poles and switched to his second option.

Zoom Trick Worm on a Shaky Head

The Zoom Trick Worm is another classic, and happens to be one of my personal favorite worms.

He again used Green Pumpkin, and paired it with a GreenFish Tackle, 1/8 ounce shaky head. I’ve never actually used this brand, but I typically use either the Reaction Innovations or the Missile Baits shaky head.

Really, it’s just about experimenting and finding the brand that you feel the most confident using.

With bass starting to find their way to beds, finesse approaches like these will be a good bet in a lot of areas of the country.
